how I saved 80% on micronutrient testing

by Christopher Kelly

(and cut turnaround from two weeks to one day)

As I’m sure you know, everything changed in 2020.

Clients are more time-crunched, risk-averse, and price-sensitive than ever.

Customer service at the speciality labs is getting spotty, and some have even gone out of business.

The last thing we want is to send our clients back to redo a test after their sample was mishandled.

And then the results take weeks to come back!

Forget about billing insurance. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Cash only.

Blimey, $450 just on micronutrient testing?

How much does that leave for all the other tests?

What about the retest?

We don’t want to burden our clients with testing hassle – heaven knows they’re already overwhelmed.

But micronutrient status still matters!

If they’re walking around with a micronutrient deficiency (or toxicity), then nothing else is going to go well.

So what are our best options in 2020?

To help you decide, I’ve put together this testing matrix:

Genova Diagnostics (NutrEval and ION) and Spectracell offer “functional tests” that measure metabolism and micronutrient status indirectly.

Measuring directly at Quest is easier and more expensive but not always more accurate.

Vibrant America is a cool new test and we’re excited about its potential, but has yet to stand the test of time.

For the past three years at NBT, we’ve always started with basic blood chemistry.

3,410 tests and counting.

Rather than measuring everything directly, we start with an inexpensive test that anyone can order through the bloodsmart.ai software.

Our client gets a hassle-free blood draw at any Quest location, and the results come back in 24 hours.

Using the basic test as input, bloodsmart.ai uses supervised machine learning to accurately predict the results of the other micronutrient tests.

That’s why it’s is so much cheaper.

See… too often, we make it too hard and too expensive for clients to start working with us.

(And I made this mistake for a LONG time.)

In particular, so many practitioners still - in 2020 - require too big of a commitment up front…especially in terms of testing.

But most people are NOT willing to commit to the high costs of tests until you show them what’s likely to be wrong and how it will likely help them.

Those big commitments scare off potential clients who would otherwise work with you and do the tests once they understand why they’re necessary.

I faced this problem for so many years, and that’s exactly why I created bloodsmart.ai.

I’m super proud of how much it’s helped both our clients and other practitioners.

Just tap or click here to see a sample report. (Notice how this NBT client is using bloodsmart.ai to get rapid feedback, and to know the juice is worth the squeeze)

And if you have any questions, definitely let me know.

P.S. Supervised machine learning (ML), a subfield of artificial intelligence (AI), is learning by example with data. Sometimes I get asked how bloodsmart.ai compares to other blood chemistry programs. I used the other programs for years before writing my own, and rather than ML, they use what I call “hand rolled algorithms.” For example, if alkaline phosphatase is low, then it must be a zinc deficiency. Unfortunately, biology is WAY more complicated than that, and supplementing with zinc with just one indicator never helps.
